Act 1
"Be the change you want to see in the world." - Gandhi
You wish you could make others join your meetings on time. You wish they are attendive, positive and fully present. It doesn't happen. It is how it is, always has been. That is because of a fact you can't ignore. You have no control over others. You can't make them come on time, or focus, or talk.
What if you end your meetings early so they can attend the next meeting on time?
What if you give them a little time back, so they can reflect, relax, move a little and get ready for the next one?
What if you demonstrate that you care for your colleagues with a little act of kindness every time you schedule a meeting?
What if you intentionally give them a chance to be better versions of themselves?
Wouldn't that make you a better person too? It would!
Act 2
Schedule your meetings for 25 minutes or 50 minutes.
60-minute meetings: Schedule them for 50 minutes. Start at the hour or 30 minute mark and
schedule for the next 50 minutes.
30-minute meetings: Schedule them for 25 minutes. Start at the hour or 30 minute mark and schedule
for the next 25 minutes.
Even try to schedule shorter meetings like for 15 minutes, if all you need is to make a quick
decision or share information. Consider if you really need a meeting.
Once a meeting is scheduled, it starts on time and ends on time. It will never be longer than
the time you scheduled it for. It can be shorter. You honor your commitment becuse you respect
others time and because others can trust you.
